Board of Advisors
Rooted’s board of advisors (aka steering committee) works to promote the organization’s mission and vision by directing the communications, programs and activities. Committee members meet monthly to pray, discuss and decide upon the conference themes, speakers, locations, etc. They also lead and recruit the organization’s volunteer teams. The committee is comprised of youth ministry practitioners and includes:
Liz Edrington served as a youth minister for six years in Charlottesville, VA before heading to Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL to get her Masters in Counseling. She is currently on staff at North Shore Fellowship and a counselor at Summit Counseling Center. She has served on the Rooted Steering Committee since 2010 and authored a chapter in Gospel Centered Youth Ministry: A Practical Guide.
Kristen Hatton is the author of Face Time: Your Identity in a Selfie World for teen girls and the teen devotional Get Your Story Straight. Her third book, The Gospel-Centered Life in Exodus for Students, will release in July 2018. Kristen lives in Oklahoma with her pastor husband and they have three teenagers. Kevin Yi is one of the youth pastors at Church Everyday in Los Angeles, CA and has been serving the middle school and high school students for over 14 years. He is a bi-vocational pastor and is also a video editor and associate producer with Toonzone Studios in Hollywood. He is also the founder of truthmattersministries.com. Him and his wife Tracy are celebrating 10 years of marriage together and have 3 children: Caden, Isabella, and Ian. He will be starting his Master of Arts in Philosophy at Talbot Theological Seminary in the Fall of 2017.
David Brashler has served since 2007 as the Youth Pastor at Living Water Church in Vancouver, Washington. In 2017 his role expanded to include Families and children. He holds a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University and is currently pursuing an M.Div from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Kendal serves as the Student Ministry Girls’ Director at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. Kendal received her BA from Union University in Public Relations. After graduation, she served 2 years overseas in Central Asia. She then spent 5 years working within parachurch youth and outreach ministries before moving to Oklahoma.
A veteran of vocational student ministry, Davis Lacey now serves as the Lead Planter and Pastor of Autumn Ridge Community Church in Ellijay, GA. He holds the MTS and MDiv degrees from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as an Engineering degree from Mercer University. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Charis, and the two of them love having adventures with their two children: Evelynn and Haddon.
