Check out this brand-new studyRenegotiating Faith: The Delay in Young Adult Identity Formation and What It Means for the Church in Canada – which was conducted by a research partnership of several expert evangelical organizations. This study is very helpful for those of us trying to build a sustainable ministry to teenagers with a vision for their long-term discipleship. Here are two highlights from the conclusion;

  • “Young adults are roughly three times more likely to connect with a new church after moving out of their parents’ home if someone from their home congregation tries to make a connection for them.” (162)
  • “only about a quarter of young adults reported that someone from their home church had tried to make a connection for them either to a new church or to a Christian campus group.” (162)
