Helping Without Hurting (in Short-Term Missions); A Participant’s Guide by Brian Fikkert and Steven Corbett. An online video-based study to doing short-term missions without doing long-term harm.

Salvation to the Ends of the Earth: A Biblical Theology of Missions by Andreas Kostenberger and Peter T. O’Brian. These man are the perfect people to write this book, giving a complete NT theological overview on mission.

The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bible’s Grand Narrative by Christopher J.H. Wright. Wright is to the the OT what Kostenberger and O’Brian (see above) are to the new. The two need to be read together for a complete biblical theology on missions.

Let the Nations Be Glad: The Supremacy of God in Missions by John Piper. One of the most thorough treatments of mission in our modern day, without being too scholarly.

Insanity of God: A True Story of Faith Resurrected by Nik Ripkin. The story of one couple’s crisis of faith, brought on by six years of extremely difficult relief work in Somalia, and how God revealed Himself to them in a whole new way.

Ten Who Changed the World by Daniel Akin. The stories of ten missionaries whose work profoundly impacted the lives of millions.

Gaining by Losing: Why the Future Belongs to Churches that Send by J.D.Greear. The true mission of the church is to train disciples and then send them out into the world.

Missions: How the Local Church Goes Global by Andy Johnson. Effective ways in which local churches can partner with missions and missionaries.

Understanding Christian Mission: Participating in Suffering and Glory by Scott Sundquist. An historical and theological view into missiology.

Cross-Cultural Connections: Stepping Out and Fitting In Around the World by Duane Elmer.

A practical guide for navigating cultural differences.

The Joshua Project (thejoshuaproject.net)– an extensive website devoted to all sorts of missions resources, plus statistics, prayer guides, and how to get involved. Also have an app designed for daily prayer for unreached people groups.

Operation World (operationworld.org) is a book, a website, a DVD set and a prayer ministry, all focused on missions and evangelism.
