Jesus Christ did not disciple his followers through detached prompts, but through embodied presence, sacrificial love, correction, suffering, touch, communion, and covenant relationship.
The gospel tells us that God, who knows all things, is not hiding from us but instead went and stood in the very shame we’re trying to hide. All this is so that, as his Word says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame” (Rom. 10:11).
The more humans begin to think of themselves (or act) as machines, the further we drift from our true identity. Even more concerning is the possibility that society may begin to value artificial or humanoid intelligence over actual human beings.
The younger generations are hungry for a place to belong, and that is what the gospel gives us through the local church. In Jesus, we who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ (Eph. 2:13).

If you tend to your soul, your church as a whole and the youth ministry will be healthier. A leader’s energy and ambition to change lives, while admirable, can lead to burnout if not kept in check. We are not our students’ savior; Jesus is.
