Originally titled “Understanding Today’s Youth Culture,” this book looks at contemporary youth culture with all of its complex and challenging issues, but addresses these issues through a Christian lens. A valuable resource from a wise and experienced youth pastor and parent.

A Practical Guide to Culture: Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today’s World by John Stonestreet and Brett Kunkle. Addresses specific cultural issues from a biblical perspective; this edition contains a four-chapter resource on sexuality.

Hurt 2.0: Inside the World of Today’s Teenagers (Youth, Family, and Culture) by Chap Clark. This is a great book sharing Clark’s insights from spending time in a local high school.

Growing Young: Six Essential Strategies for Helping Young People Discover and Love Your Church by Kara Powell and Jake Mulder- Fuller Youth Institute’s research on churches that effectively engage their youth.

American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers by Nancy Jo Sales. An honest look at the social media lives of teenagers, especially girls.

Teenage Guys: Exploring Issues Adolescent Guys Face and Strategies to Help Them by Steve Gerali. A great introduction to teenage guys development and struggles.
